Mike first became interested in long drive in 1997 after hearing that another Canadian, Jason Zuback, had won the World Long Driving Championships. It was still a hobby for him until 2000 when he achieved a top 8 finish at the World Long Drive Championships, leading him to take up the sport full time. Since then he has had amazing success in a sport that is gaining more exposure and popularity. The attraction of long drive as a spectator sport is immediately apparent: with athletes like Mike able to hit a ball 428 yards (his personal longest drive in competition), why wouldn’t fans get excited? As one of long drive’s big hitters, Mike has appeared numerous times on TSN’s Off The Record with Michael Landsberg and has been featured in Golf Digest Indonesia, Maxx-M Magazine and Australia’s Hacker magazine. You may have even seen him on ESPN or ESPN2 participating in the Remax World Long Drive Championships.
